Solar Calculator
for Jaipur Homes

Enter two numbers from your JVVNL bill. See the system size you need, what it costs after subsidy, and how soon it pays for itself.

Your electricity bill

How the calculator works

  • System size. Your monthly units divided by the units one kilowatt of panels makes in a month, rounded up to the nearest half kilowatt. The default is 120 units per kW per month, which is 4 units a day.
  • Price of electricity. Your bill divided by your units. This uses your own bill, so it reflects your slab. Fixed charges stay on the bill after solar, so real savings are a little lower.
  • Cost. System size times the cost per kW. The default of ₹55,000 is a placeholder. Replace it with a quote from an installer.
  • Central subsidy. ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW, ₹18,000 for the third kW, capped at ₹78,000 under PM Surya Ghar.
  • State subsidy. Rajasthan's ₹17,000 is reported to apply to households under the state free electricity scheme. Confirm your eligibility with JVVNL before counting on it.
  • Payback. Cost after subsidy divided by yearly savings. It ignores tariff increases, panel ageing and maintenance.

These figures are estimates, not a quote. Check current subsidy rules on the official portal, pmsuryaghar.gov.in.

Common questions

How is the solar system size calculated?

The calculator divides your monthly units by the units one kilowatt of panels produces in a month, then rounds up to the nearest half kilowatt.

How accurate is the payback period?

It is an estimate. It uses your own bill for the price of electricity and an assumed installation cost per kilowatt, which you can replace with a real quote.

Which subsidy does the calculator include?

The central PM Surya Ghar subsidy of ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 for the third kW, capped at ₹78,000. The Rajasthan state amount is added only if you tick the box.
